Our client is a vibrant and growing natural gas and oil exploration, development, and production company. The company manages operations in over 6,000 wells in the Permian Basin and is actively pursuing growth opportunities throughout the US that provide attractive cash returns and long-lived reserves. The company owns 1.5 trillion cubic feet equivalent of proved natural gas and oil reserves, produces more than 70 billion cubic feet equivalent annually, and is focused on growth strategy that includes strategic acquisitions along with enhanced exploitation of its’ existing asset base. Its parent company owns several energy subsidiaries and has a strong desire to grow its’ upstream asset base through our client. The company operates through three locations.
THE POSITION:
The Staff Geoscientist must be able to perform difficult and complex work requiring thorough knowledge of the subject matter. Under broad direction, the Staff Geologist will take responsibility for the technical leadership of projects and may act as a team leader for a designated work group. He/She must have the ability to apply extensive and diversified knowledge of geological principles, advanced techniques, modifications and extension of theories, precepts and practice of the field and related discipline. Additionally, the Staff Geologist will generate, lead and develop exploration prospects through the interpretation of well logs, scout tickets and other geological data as well as support the development of discovered fields including geological oversight of drilling operations. He/She will perform other duties as requested or assigned. (This position can be filled as a Staff or Senior Staff Geologist depending on level of skills and experience.)
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
To be considered, the qualified candidate must have a Geoscience degree with a minimum of 5-15 years’ experience. Strong leadership skills and a full knowledge of geological theories and principles are required. Additionally, strong oral, written communication and personal computer skills are a must. The selected individual must have demonstrated ability to think analytically, solve complex problems and be equally effective working independently or in team environments. Applicants with experience using PETRA, PI Dwight’s, Smart Section and Microsoft programs such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint are desired. Proven decision-making skills and demonstrated ability to process information quickly plus an ability to manage multiple tasks are essential. The incumbent should possess interpersonal skills as well as strong planning, organization and project management skills. Candidates with broad-based multi-basin experience with exposure to both conventional and unconventional plays will be given strong consideration. Permian basin experience is also a plus.
