VP-WorldWide Drilling

THE  COMPANY:

Our client is active in worldwide oil and gas operations.  Upstream E&P is the principal growth vehicle of the company enterprise.  The company is presently exploring and producing in a variety of basins worldwide inclusive of the Deepwater Gulf of Mexico, West Africa and Southeast Asia with exploration programs offshore Indonesia and Suriname.  The company is also aggressively pursuing North American resource play opportunities with active exploration and development programs in British Columbia, Canada and in the Eagle Ford Shale of South Texas.  The diversity and scale of the company’s worldwide portfolio is a distinguishing characteristic from its peers.

THE  POSITION:
Responsible for Drilling and Completions operations in the company’s International locations.  Responsible also for preparation of feasibility assessments, rig schedules, and budgets in support of New Ventures and International Exploration.

Essential Responsibilities:
·        Responsible for managing $1billion gross annual company operated drilling and
      completion spend.
·        Supervises in country Drilling Teams to ensure the company operations are conducted
      in a safe, efficient manner and meet Company Business objectives, and wells are drilled
      safely achieving exploration and production requirements at the agreed budgeted time
      and cost. 
Wells are drilled meeting agreed rig schedules.
·      Costs and risks are identified and included in the overall assessment of a potential new
      venture.
·        Prepares feasibilities studies in support of New Ventures that include risk assessment,
      typical well costs, and identifies local benchmarks.
·        Staffs new drilling teams and sets up operations base for new country entries to ensure
      teams are in place and operations base is established in advance of rig arrival in country.

·        Performance management system is established including external benchmarking.

·        Performance targets are established and tracked on a project and global basis.

·        Critical well reviews are conducted for each new country entry well, each HPHT well, and others deemed critical by the GM, International drilling.

·      Well risks are identified, mitigation plans are in place, and wells are drilled meeting AFE estimates.

·       Drilling rig strategy is developed to ensure that a plan is in place to secure rigs to meet company well requirements.

·     Works with drilling contractors to achieve competitive rates and contractual terms meeting company standards.

·       Established record of “Making things happen”.
 

Experience Required:

·       B.S. in Engineering from major university.  Degree in Petroleum Engineering preferred. 

·       20 years of experience.

·       Previous experience in a drilling management position.

·       Excellent presentation and communication skills.

·       Experienced in drilling design, drilling tools, and performance management systems.

·       Previous international operations experience.

·       Deepwater drilling experience.
