Senior Geologist

THE  COMPANY:
Our client is an independent exploration, development and acquisition company that has historically developed a majority of its value through the drill bit. The company has focused its efforts in the Mid-Continent region, with its current growth assets located in the Permian Basin and the Anadarko Granite Wash plays in Texas Panhandle and Western Oklahoma. In addition to having an aggressive drilling program, the Company has made strategic acquisitions and participates in drilling joint ventures where significant upside has been identified. The Company has approximately 170 full-time employees in its Tulsa, Dallas and Midland offices.  In 2011, the company went public on the NYSE and has enjoyed a very successful debut.

Approximately 47% of the total company staff consists of experienced technical employees with over 20 petroleum engineers, 20 geologists, 15 land men and 20 support personnel dedicated to the Company’s E&P efforts.  It has long been recognized that the success of the Company is dependent upon having excellent employees and also making sure they have the best tools (software and hardware) available to apply to their area of expertise.

THE  POSITION:
The Senior Geologist will be primarily focused on the development/exploitation of the company’s highly prospective assets in the Permian Basin in which over 6,000 drilling opportunities have been identified. As this already identified acreage is exploited, the Senior Geologist’s exploration skills will be exercised as additional opportunities are identified.

Responsibilities:
·        Subsurface interpretation and oil and gas property evaluation.
·        Manage geological and geophysical projects and contractors.
·        Managing and coordinating geoscience aspects related to drilling well operations (2 rigs).

Requirements:
·        10+ years of oil and gas industry experience.
·        Bachelors’ Degree in Geoscience required, Masters’ degree a plus.
·        Permian Basin experience preferred.
·        Reservoir characterization and well operations experience required.
·        Horizontal drilling well experience (geo-steering) preferred.
·        Experience with geoscience interpretation software, Petra required and SMT Kingdom
       Suite preferred.
·        Effective team participant who takes an active role in team responsibilities.
·        Strong time management skills.
·        Ability to work with a minimum of supervision.
·        Strong verbal and written communication skills.
·        Ability to work on multiple tasks.
