London is a magnet for global oil and gas financing. The London Stock Exchange includes BP PLC (BP) and Royal Dutch Shell PLC (RDSP), two of the remaining Bix Six. These two giants alone account for $313 billion in market capitalization. Energy focused investment banks and private equity firms abound as do consultants, engineering firms, and other energy support activities. London as a city is focused on hitting an aggressive CO2 reduction goal by 2025 by retrofitting public and private properties and transitioning to cleantech electric energy. The biggest of energy projects, the one that will attract attention from green transportation firms from around the world, is making the Tube carbon neutral by 2050. The energy industry is about to recharge the city – literally.
