In New York City, as well as the rest of the state, the focus is all about renewable and cleantech thanks to the Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act passed in 2019. The act calls for all electrical energy to be 100% clean by 2040 and to reduce carbon emissions by 85% by 2050. That’s a tall order but it is an amazing boost to organizations involved in renewable electric generation, grid modernization, power storage, and other renewable based energy technologies. Another growth area is energy education. Employers are reporting difficulty in finding help with the skills required for clean energy positions. A rush is on to establish technical training to fill the void creating a mini-boom for technical schools and training contractors.
