The $70 billion investment, Chevron’s Gorgon Project, located on Barrow Island 70 kilometers off the coast from Perth, is the single biggest resources project in Australia. Perth companies are the biggest producers of LNG in the country. Perth LNG make up a significant amount of Australia’s 87 Million tons exported to South Pacific nations, China, and Japan. Perth’s leadership in LNG isn’t likely to change anytime soon. Estimates indicate there is an in-ground reserve of 39 trillion cubic feet; enough to sustain the business for 29 years.
